Sunday evening, Balan explains the whole process of Jewellery Enamel Painting.
It seems these dull dyes go into the furnace, come out red hot, cool down to transform into these shining marvels.
After we are done with all the cakes and bakes and other goodies by Aditi we come back to the topic.
So how do you figure out how it will look when it is done?
He says, Only with acquired skill, and lot experience, you can actually visualize what it will look like.
You cannot predict easily, most dyes totally change colour when they come out of the heat.
Same with people.
Little bit of heat brings out the true colour and brilliance.
And you need loads of experience to be a good judge.

Interesting analogy there, Swapnil. I guess if I could put some people in the furnace, I would not care too much about bringing them out.
S!
Wow! Great analogy as Souvik said, yes! And secondly, thanks - for finding out those links on Balan and his enamel work - never occurred to me to google somebody I know since years! It was great to read formal write-ups of those stories I have heard from him over glasses of wine, on various evenings!! Those fabulous descriptions really solidified fading conversations into bright colours!
And I think we tend to take people for granted over time, and their brilliance tends to get faded a bit by sheer familiarity. It sometimes requires a fresh eye to make us re-aware of what we have so close-by, and do not appreciate enough. I think I shall drop in more often to listen to the stories he enjoys telling so much.
Thank you, Neel.
P.S: Can't resist this - Jai Kerala!!! (And North Kerala to boot, no connection whatsover to Satish and his ilk!)
